There was a minor upset when 3rd placedCangrejeros (6-4) were outscored by fifth ranked Criollos (5-6) in Santurce 92-71 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Caguas. Santurce managed to win second period 16-11 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Criollos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Nigerian guard Olumiye Oni (198-1997, college: Yale) nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side and Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) accounted for 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Criollos players scored in double figures. The former international forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds and American center Hassan Whiteside (213-1989, college: Marshall) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Cangrejeros in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caguas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 5-6 record. Loser Cangrejeros dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Quebradillas.
